Nós ficamos aqui na nossa lua de mel para 2 noites e foi simplesmente incrível. Não há palavras suficientes para descrever o quão impressionante é este acampamento e o deserto. O nascer e o pôr do sol eram de tirar o fôlego. E o nosso motorista Jamal foi tão bom & nos fez sentir extremamente confortável, certificando-se que sempre tivemos água mais do que suficiente e ainda tinha uma caixa de chocolates para nós. Nick foi super fácil de se comunicar e fez com que cada detalhe fosse perfeito para nós. O acampamento também nos surpreendeu com uma garrafa de champanhe em cima de uma das dunas de areia para pôr-do-sol. Foi apenas uma experiência mágica e vale a pena cada centavo. Eu recomendo as 2 noites, como 1 noite definitivamente não seria suficiente.
Natal no deserto do Saara - imperdível, é uma experiência inigualável. Quase não incluímos o Saara em nossa viagem porque parecia muito distante e demorado, mas acabou fazendo parte do destaque! O acampamento em si é impressionante - 90 minutos da última estrada pavimentada e isolado nas dunas. São apenas algumas barracas, mas o luxo é exagerado, com a equipe preparando comidas e bebidas incríveis, oferecendo passeios de camelo, coquetéis nas dunas ao pôr do sol etc. Você pode ser aventureiro ou desfrutar de redes em à sombra durante o dia e sob as estrelas à noite. Passe alguns dias. Estamos muito contentes por termos ido para a área mais isolada de Chigaga vs. Erg Chebbi, onde dizem que os acampamentos estão tão apertados que vocês se ouvem.Foi fundada e é administrada por Nick e Bobo, com Nick administrando os negócios remotamente e Bobo administrando o acampamento. Ambas pessoas maravilhosas. Além do ótimo acampamento, deixe-os ajudá-lo no planejamento da viagem. Quando dissemos a Nick que gostaríamos de visitar depois de Fez, ele disse que cuidaria de tudo. Ele nos deu um carro particular e todos os hotéis e refeições durante o trajeto. Pode ser feito em 2 dias longos de Fez, ou 1 de Marrakech, mas leva um dia extra em cada extremidade. Isso permitiu um passeio turístico de lazer pela zona rural do Marrocos e pelas Montanhas Atlas. Cada Riad e refeição era 5 estrelas e o passeio / passeio em si acabou sendo um destaque. Casi no incluimos el Sahara en nuestro viaje porque parecía muy lejano y toma mucho tiempo, ¡pero eso terminó siendo parte de lo más destacado! El campamento en sí es impresionante: a 90 minutos de la última carretera pavimentada y aislado en las dunas. Son solo algunas tiendas de campaña, pero lo han convertido en un lujo exagerado, con el personal preparando comidas y bebidas increíbles, ofreciendo paseos en camello, cócteles en las dunas al atardecer, etc. Puedes ser aventurero o disfrutar de las hamacas en la sombra durante el día y bajo las estrellas por la noche. Pasa un par de días. Estamos muy contentos de haber ido al área más aislada de Chigaga contra Erg Chebbi, donde dicen que los campamentos están tan apretados que se escuchan entre sí.Fue fundado y está dirigido por Nick y Bobo, con Nick gestionando el negocio de forma remota y Bobo gestionando el campamento. Absolutely stunning location, wonderful employees are there for everything you could ever need. I cannot recommend this place more, definitely make it a part of your trip.
We almost didn't include the Sahara on our trip because it seemed so far away and takes so much time, but that ended up being part of the highlight! The camp itself is stunning - 90 minutes off the last paved road and isolated in the dunes. It's just a few tents, but they've made it over-the-top luxury, with the staff making amazing food and drinks, offering camel rides, cocktails on the dunes at sunset, etc. You can be adventurous, or enjoy hammocks in the shade during the day, and under the stars at night. Spend a couple days. We're so glad we went to the more isolated Chigaga area vs. Erg Chebbi, where they say the camps are packed in so tight you hear each other. It was founded and is run by Nick and Bobo, with Nick running business remotely, and Bobo managing the camp. Both wonderful people. Besides the great camp, let them help you with trip planning. When we told Nick we'd like to visit after Fes, he said he'd take care of everything. He got us a private car and all the hotels and meals en-route. It can be done in 2 long days from Fes, or 1 from Marrakech, but take an extra day on each end. That allowed a leisurely sightseeing tour through rural Morocco and the Atlas Mountains. Every Riad and meal was 5-star and the drive/tour itself ended up being a highlight. I'm told Nick does the route himself periodically just to find and check everything and everyone from the drivers to the hotel seems to love him. I now feel sorry for the people who go to Morocco and just see the big cities...

Located on the Western edge of the Sahara Desert, this camp is one of those bucket list musts. We heard about it from some friends and I contacted Nick Garsten who together with the very charismatic Bobo, a Berber tribesman from the area, set up this camp some 8 or 9 years ago. The journey from Marrakech is some 9 hours. However, there are very interesting places to visit along the way. On Nick’s recommendation, we stayed at Kasbah Azulwhich is a subject of a separate review and visited Kasbah Telouet along the route.The road to Erg Chigaga passes through the beautiful ranges of the Atlas Mountains which rise over 4,000 metres.Situated in the town of Ouarzazate, which is known as the Hollywood of Morocco, lies the Atlas Film Studios where there are sets from movies including Gladiator, Prince of Persia and the Mummy. Nearby there is a mud brick walled Kasbah (Fort) featured in the Games of Thrones and also Gladiator. We eventually reached the end of the made roads and basically headed off into the desert.I did ask our driver how he knew where he was going. His answer was “Berber GPS”! Arriving at the camp mid-afternoon, we were immediately welcomed into the “bar tent”. There were set out all manner of drinks, wines, sparkling wines, soft drinks and basically anything you could wish for. The various brands of Gin and Tonic all well chilled, my wife was definitely in her element. A few drinks later, we were shown to our tent. It was large. It was glamorous. There were rugs all over the floor. There was a double bed. There were side tables. There were bedside lamps. There was a separate tent, slightly smaller, in which there was quite a portable toilet, a dressing table with mirror, towels, racks, a wooden floored area on which stood two rather large brass buckets and a stool. Water being a precious, showers were not an option. Having said that, there was actually a shower room available just across one of the nearby dunes. However, every morningone of the brass buckets was returned promptly full of hot water.Using the copper scoop we were more than able to wash away the desert sand.The bed was comfortable and there was solar powered lighting, andthe ability to recharge mobile phones, cameras, etc. There were approximately 15 people in the camp, so perhaps 7 or 8 tents, as well as the dining tent, which again was very elegantly set out. The food was both excellent and plentiful, and as it was an open bar 24/7, there was certainly no shortage of alcohol. In addition, there were a number of tents with day beds or lounges in them open on all sides. During the day there were a variety of activities, principal ones being relaxing, drinking, eating. For the overly energetic, there was sandboarding, camel trekking and quad bike riding over the dunes. At night after dinner, there was a large fire set up in the centre of the rectangle surrounded by the tents. On each of the nights that we were there, there was entertainment by the Berber tribesman, singing and playing various instruments around the fire. Apart from eating and drinking and reading, I did venture forth camel trekking and quad bike riding up and down quite precipitous dunes. The staff were helpful, friendly and extremely well trained, and polite. All credit to Nick and Bobo. We spent some hours drinking, smoking and generally learning more about Bobo, the surrounding areas and the history of the camp. We spent three days there, and we could have easily spent more. But I guess the old adage leave while you still want more is not a bad rule to follow. The way back, was some three hours off roading in an extraordinary varied terrain including rocky plains, sandy deserts, hard baked clay flats on which we located a series of mud brick walled accommodation places. Driving back again through the Atlas Mountains with the extraordinary scenery and the winding descent into valleys was quite an experience Erg Chigaga Luxury Desert Camp is definitely an experience not to be missed. Nos alojamos aquí en nuestra luna de miel por 2 noches y fue simplemente increíble. No hay palabras suficientes para describir lo impresionante que es este campamento y el desierto. El amanecer y el atardecer fueron impresionantes. Y nuestro conductor, Jamal, fue muy agradable y nos hizo sentir extremadamente cómodos, asegurándonos de que siempre tuviéramos más que suficiente agua e incluso tuviéramos una caja de chocolates para nosotros. They take care of everything from the time you arrive in Marrakech with a personal driver across the country. The camp is located on the more isolated eastern side of the dunes. Unlimited food & drinks at camp and your driver will only stop at restaurants that he knows won't make you sick on the drive in/out
We stayed here on our honeymoon for 2 nights and it was just incredible. There aren’t enough words to describe how stunning this camp & the desert is. The sunrise & sunset were breathtaking. And our driver Jamal was so nice & made us feel extremely comfortable, making sure we always had more than enough water & even had a box of chocolates for us. Nick was super easy to communicate with & made sure every detail was perfect for us. The camp also surprised us with a bottle of champagne on top of one of the sand dunes for sunset. It was just a magical experience & worth every penny. I would highly recommend the 2 nights, as 1 night would definitely not be enough.
