We loved the hotel. It is stylish and the rooms are clean and of a good size. The staff is attentive and nice. We just had a little trouble with the heating system but did not stain our stay. We also were happy with the location. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes into walking distance from the hotel. We plan to go back and we will recommend it.

Check in time is 3pm. Waited in the lobby until 7pm before check in was available. Was given a $15 credit at the bar and told it would be 30 minutes. Over two hours later I finally got a room. This hotel is very nice and fancy. I did receive a discount on my room due to the wait which is appreciated but, the situation was not acceptable for an establishment as nice as this.

A incrível remodelação trouxe este hotel a um belo lugar entre o charme original do velho mundo visto nos trabalhos em madeira / luminárias / tetos e novo / tecnologia, conforme experimentado nos quartos e na academia. Os quartos foram bem decorados e definidos, perfeitamente limpos. Eu nunca ouvi nenhum barulho enquanto estava no meu quarto. Os funcionários foram simpáticos e disponíveis. O bar/restaurante é elegante e um ótimo lugar para tomar uma bebida, nós não jantamos, então não podemos falar com a comida. Como a maioria dos lugares, o hotel sofre com problemas de equipamentos e funcionários no mundo pós-covid. Apenas um elevador funciona e o serviço de quarto não está disponível - batatas pequenas em geral, até que haja grandes multidões e a questão do elevador se torne real. The incredible remodel brought this hotel to a beautiful place between original old world charm seen in the woodwork/fixtures/ceilings and new/tech as experienced in the rooms and the fitness center. The rooms were well appointed and laid out, perfectly clean. I never heard any noise while in my room. The staff were friendly and available. As someone who works out at hotels the fitness room is the absolute best I've ever experienced with an incredible array of quality equipment. The bar/restaurant is classy and a great place to get a drink, we did not eat dinner so cannot speak to the food. Like most places the hotel suffers from equipment and staffing issues in the post-covid world. Only one elevator works and room service is not available - small potatoes overall, until there are big crowds and the elevator issue gets real. Hoping they can take care of that soon. Love it!

This hotel was absolutely beautiful. A fabulous worker at the hotel informed me they had just reopened after 7 years of renovation. It was very modern and the bed was so soft. OKAY! The average score for this place is misleading. It has recently been through a complete gut and renovation, and boy, IT IS GORGEOUS! I wish I took more photos to display the amazing job they did to retain the character and historical significance of the building. The rooms are upgraded and the temp was stable, which is a big concern of mine when I stay in hotels. The restaurant and coffee bar is outstanding.They staff take the hospitality thing pretty seriously and make every guest’s a positive experience. I look forward to staying and dining at this hotel the next time I am in Des Moines.

First, please look at the dates of the reviews of this amazing property. The location was remodeled and has just re-opened in Oct 21. They are still finalizing the work but this reset and refresh is magnificent. So much attention to detail and to the restoration of the glory days. From the beautiful lobby to the history walk in the halls to the amazing on site restaurant our stay exceeded all expectations. We saw the overall review score and after experiencing this location it is a shame there isn't an ability to reset the reviews after a few years of painstaking and clearly dedicated restoration.Truly a heartfelt thank you for a fantastic stay where we were treated with perfect hospitality in an amazing property! Best wishes for the accolades and attention you deserve!!
