Where to begin? The hotel had no record of our Booking.com reservation; claimed their system is not integrated properly with Booking.com (so why are they listed on Booking.com?).No housekeeping, which is not mentioned on the hotel's website. We were supposedly upgraded but the room was very small. Will not stay here again.

Our stay was OK mainly due to the kindness of the staff who gave us an upgrade from our shoebox sized room. The hotel itself was OK, the lobby and reception were nice, however due to covid and staff shortages many of the reasons we booked this hotel were not applicable. If we had known there was no maid service I would have just stayed in an Air Bnb, also the rooftop was closed which was one of the main reasons I booked HGU. I booked it through hotels.com who also did not think it was necessary to tell us that all these features were not available. In all the hotel was OK, probably not a four star hotel and not worth the $900 I paid for four nights. The photos on the website were not exactly accurate and in reality were much smaller. I feel that this hotel should be much cheaper if they are to run a reduced service. However, i do commend the staff who were lovely and clearly left to run the hotel by themselves without much help

Not only is he kind, fun, but also attentive and goes the extra mile to make sure your experience at the HGU is one to remember. It warms our hearts to be welcomed by him every time we arrive, and we always hate to say goodbye. Looking forward to returning soon!

TLDR: I usually keep my expectations low but for 200/night, this was pretty bad. Pros: - Rooms have a pretty nice aesthetic. - Basics- Bed, TV, AC, storage- is fine. - Location is great. Cons: - Rooms are small. - They don't have any bottled water or turndown service. - Bathroom lights flickers to the point of where it'll make you nauseous. - Shower temp control is worse than a college dorm. Water also has a green tint. - The bathroom does not have an exhaust fan and you can't open the windows to vent out the room. - Curtains are thin and you can see into other room's beds. - You can hear everything happening in the hallway. Doors also regularly slamming shut in the early morning, waking you up. - Bugs.

Os quartos Queen são muito pequenos, mas o rei era super aconchegante e agradável. As camas são muito confortáveis. Hotel geral agradável. Mas o motivo pelo qual eu voltaria é o ótimo atendimento ao cliente, especialmente Chris! Nunca tive um atendimento tão bom em um hotel e ele fez toda a diferença. Tão gentil e verdadeiramente se preocupa com que o hóspede fique confortável e feliz. Eu gostaria que cada hotel tivesse alguém como ele !!

Las habitaciones con cama grande son demasiado pequeñas, pero el rey era muy acogedor y agradable. Las camas son muy cómodas. Buen hotel en general. Pero la razón por la que volvería es el excelente servicio al cliente, ¡especialmente Chris! Nunca tuve un servicio tan bueno en un hotel y él marcó la diferencia. Tan amable y verdaderamente se preocupa por que el huésped se sienta cómodo y feliz. ¡Ojalá todos los hoteles tuvieran a alguien como él!

Queen rooms are too small but the king was super cozy and nice. Beds are very comfortable. Overall nice hotel. But the reason why I would return is the great customer service, especially Chris! I never had such good service in a hotel and he made all the difference. So kind and truly cares for the guest to be comfortable and happy. I wish every hotel had someone like him!!

Super comfortable room. Quiet (a luxury in NYC). Excellent reception staff - shout out to Em who took great care of us and was even able to upgrade us because there was an available room. Looking forward to post pandemic visit in order to enjoy the rooftop bar.

The experience was phenomenal! When I first arrived at HGU, the hotel staff members were super friendly and accommodating. They held our bags until our room was ready, upgraded our room to a King Suite, and made sure we had everything we needed. The hotel staff member "EM" in particular was fantastic. He showed us around the hotel, provided excellent service, and recommended places to visit and eat locally.
Our room was clean, spacious, modern, and located in a central part of Manhattan. I am excited that I have a timeless, chic hotel to stay in New York!
Side note: Ask for "EM" when you book your room- he's great!!
